The Shenandoah Valley Academy was located in Winchester, Virginia. It succeeded the Winchester Academy which closed in 1861 with students and faculty alike joining the Confederate forces. In 1865 after reorganization, the trustees changed the name to the Shenandoah Valley Academy. It closed in 1939 for financial reasons. Buckle is in excellent condition and measures approximately 52mm by 76mm.
