Antique screw type lock with stamp "ER" on one side of hasp for Elijah Rickard (1795-1879). He was the adopted son of Michael Rickard who invented this type of lock in the late 1700's or early 1800's. The Rickard family lived and worked in Shepherdstown, VA (WV after June 20, 1863). In working condition. From an old home near Winchester, VA. Overall height with key in place approximately 5 inches.
